  1. Loved this exhibition - I noticed how much technology was used. There was the visual presentation at the beginning, an audio recording that went with the learning story about creating instruments and the use of photos and overhead projectors.
As teachers we are documenting and presenting in a very technology based way and it is only natural that this is how children will perceive teir world.
Even at home, every member of my household has a facebook page, mobile phone which also contains their music. They rarely use the phone to talk to their friends. It is usually done via facebook or texting. Yesterday I called Inland Revenue and an automated voice responded to my requests. I must admit I found that a litte freaky and I was annoyed at how impersonal it felt.
What do you think about that. I'm sure it is to reduce the cost of paying a real person to do the same job.

  2. I think that this exhibition was quite interesting. It was good to see how different teachers at different centers teaches their children. It gave me some different ideas and what I could do at my centre. Most of the things that I saw and viewed was really creative. It helped me 'refreshed' my memory about the creativity that we have learned before and I also got to extend on it. I liked how I got to see the children's creative learning. It was also amazing to see how much effort the teachers put in for their children. I was surprised that the teachers continued to plan and made discussions about and for the children during their lunch times/sleep times. Overall, I think it was great to have something different from what we normally do in class.

  3. Thank you Mel for giving us the opportunity to go to the exhibition.I was really taken aback when i saw the way the reggio teachers used simple day to day things to elp enhance the children s creativity. The thing that fascinated me the most was their use of the mortar and pestle where they used simple things like leaves and bark to make their own paint, I have taken this concept back to my centre and the only thing that I have changed is using flowers instead of the leaves as my children seemed to show more interest in flowers, thus we are now creating our own perfume.I cannot wait to use some of the other concepts that I had picked up at the exhibition.

  4. I went to the wonder of learning conference, and was so glad that some of my class mates got to visit this exhibition, and wonder in the marvel of the investigations conducted by children and their teachers in Reggio Emilia.

The element of the exhibition that spoke to me the most was how the young children could benefit so much from simple recycled products, or natural resources, and on top of this have this exploration noticed and respected by their teachers.

It really does make me think...are all the expensive mod cons parents often feel quite pressured into providing for their children to support their development really doing just that...or are they a hinderance? And is there a need to take children back to what they relate to so well (in my opinion)...nature.

I found the exhibition and the conference truely inspiring, and feel very grateful I was able to be a part of it.
